REMONDIS acquires SITA's business activities in Lennestadt, Schmallenberg, Olpe and Altenkirchen

Olpe. The waste management company REMONDIS Olpe GmbH is continuing to expand in the German region of South Westphalia. Having taken over a number of container services in Siegerland last year, it has now acquired SITA's business activities in Lennestadt, Schmallenberg, Olpe and Altenkirchen. The acquisition was approved by the anti-monopoly authorities on 14.10.2013 which means that the takeover can now be finalised on 01.12.2013.

REMONDIS Olpe is taking on the 64 employees in Lennestadt (Olpe and Schmallenberg) as well as the fleet of vehicles, equipment, containers, contracts with customers and the properties in Lennestadt and Olpe (Griesemert). It has acquired two locations in Altenkirchen (Altenkirchen and Katzwinkel) with a total of 71 employees and is, similarly, also taking over all of the vehicles, equipment, containers and contracts with customers and the property in Altenkirchen. In all probability, however, this branch will become part of REMONDIS Südwest at a future date and the hazardous waste division in Lennestadt will most likely be sold on to a sister company or a third party.

SITA took the decision to sell these businesses in order to be able to concentrate on its core regions where it has a strong and stable presence. "We are really pleased to have found a buyer that is able to offer our employees in the region the best prospects for the future and to provide all our customers there with the same reliable level of service they have been accustomed to," commented Oliver Gross, managing director of SITA Deutschland GmbH.

Thanks to the acquisitions in Siegerland and, in particular, the purchase of SITA's activities in Lennestadt and Olpe, REMONDIS Olpe GmbH has succeeded in further strengthening its presence in the District of Olpe, where the company has its head office, as well as in the areas north of this region. As a result, REMONDIS Olpe GmbH has become the leading waste management company in South Westphalia.
